YORK US 30 DRAGWAY BLAST FROM THE PAST

    DVD #007

This video was originally released in 2003 and covers historic drag racing events at the former York US 30 Dragway located in York, Pennsylvania.  The video was removed from our production list in 2012 after one of our contributors ask that certain footage be removed from the production.  This updated video contains a majority of the original content along with replacement content to fulfill the original production objective. During the update process we have taken the time to clean up all the content footage by using editing tools that we did not have back in 2003.  We think it has made some improvements to the overall quality of the production.  We have also authored the DVD with Chapter identifiers that will help you quickly navigate to your favorite part of the production.  Now a description of the video content:

This video begins with some vintage movie footage of old  hot rods from the 1950's .  We show you how these old school rods looked back in the day and how they performed on the track at York US 30.  We progress into the 1960's and even show you how they ran four cars at a time on the York track.  We have also included some very rare footage of  Richard Petty  and his 43 junior drag race Cuda running at York.

No visit to York US 30 would be complete without looking at the greatest one-day independent drag race of all time the  1965 Super Stock Magazine Nationals .  We have included some new footage of the race and you will hear from the winners;  Bill Lawton Bud Faubel George Weiler  and Bob  Harrop

From there we move on to the  1969 Super Stock Nationals  and you will hear  Bruce "USA-1" Larson  talk about his victory over Dick Harrell in the Funny Car final.

Our next event is a special  Funny Car Match Race  that was held in April of 1970 and you will see:   Bruce Larson Arnie Beswick Malcolm Durham Charlie Allen  and  Marv Eldridge  among others.  We also have some footage of a  1970 WCS points meet  at the track and you see a variety of cars in all categories.

Our final segment in the production is a visit to the  1970 NHRA Summernationals  at York US 30.  This was the very first time NHRA used the Summernationals name and over 45,000 fans turned out to see this fantastic event.  You will see Top Fuel, Top Gas, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Competition Eliminator, Modified Eliminator, Super Stock and Stock Eliminator.  We show you a lot of the racing along with the cars and people who helped establish drag racing as a major motorsports activity.  The Top Fuel Championship was won by  "Sneaky" Pete Robinson  and his SOHC Ford powered rail.  This would turn out to be Pete's last championship as he was killed in a racing accident at the 1971 Winternationals at Pamona, Ca.

This video runs for one hour and thirty-one minutes.
